The Shut Down Adelanto Coalition is a collective of over twenty organizations (including Nikkei Progressives) who have been working together since 2019 with the goal of achieving the just closure of the Adelanto ICE Jail. All organizations organize within the scope of immigrant justice but through different lenses, whether that is environmental, worker rights, or policy.  Goals include ending the criminalization of immigrants in detention by shifting the narrative, advocating for the safety and release of all incarcerated immigrants by creating community-led models that center the needs of those impacted, and stopping any expansions of immigrant detention and fight for humane closure of the Adelanto Detention Center.
